Voxel Excavator
Dig through a destructible world, one voxel at a time.

The project
A Unity excavation game with a layered voxel sphere, distinct projectiles and a progression loop built around the material removed.
The playable build supports excavation, upgrades, stage progression and local continuation.
What had to change
Update a destructible 3D volume and track damage without rebuilding or scanning the entire sphere for every impact.
How it was shaped
A compact voxel grid is divided into chunks; localized blast and drill operations mark affected chunks for rebuilding. A local save captures material and health state for continuation.
What it delivered
The playable build supports excavation, upgrades, stage progression and local continuation.
Inside the project
Standard, drill and cluster payloads affect layered material differently. Destroyed voxels award credits for upgrades, while removing enough of the core advances the player to another sphere.
Material and health are stored in a voxel grid split into chunks. Damage visits local bounds and marks changed chunks for a shared mesh rebuild; targeting follows the remaining voxel data.
A local save records the voxel state, progression and camera. Snapshots are validated and written with a backup so an interrupted or invalid save can be recovered.
A playable Unity build. The development captures show the spherical excavator; a relationship to earlier STRATA concepts has not been established.
